About

A club without
a clubhouse

Trackday Brand started as a folder of chassis notes and a habit of standing in paddocks reading scrutineering sheets. It is now three things: an archive of the cars that made the modern enthusiast, a set of colour studies of the schemes they raced in, and a small apparel house that dresses the people who care about both.

The identity

A heritage badge
system, not
a racing decal

The identity is drawn from motorsport heritage and a relentless pursuit of improvement: understated, precise, and made to last. Restraint is the point.

The master package

Every mark on this site is placed from the supplied master file. Nothing is rebuilt, re-spaced, recoloured or re-arched. Where a mark needs a different ground, the ground changes — the mark never does.

Five colours

Primary combination is Charcoal, Bone and Sandstone. Sandstone is a muted heritage gold, never a bright metallic yellow. Steel is a hairline and specification colour — it is never set as body text on Bone.

Type system

Two typefaces

Cinzel 600 / 500 — heritage serif with flared, bracketed serifs. Moderate contrast, elegant but masculine, and stable when arched. Used for the badge perimeter, the secondary wordmark and headlines.

Montserrat 500 / 600 — clean geometric sans, uppercase-friendly and strong at small sizes. Used for BRAND, TRD / MRK, taglines, specifications, navigation and apparel detail type.

Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1.

Founder note

From Nashville

I run this from Nashville, Tennessee — a long way from the Nordschleife and about four hours from most of the paddocks I grew up in. That distance is the point. Trackday Brand is for people who love these cars from a garage, a laptop, or a walk-up, not just from a pit wall.

The rule for every issue is simple: if I cannot source it, it does not go in. Output figures, kerb weights and race results are checked against manufacturer archives and period results before they are printed. Where a number is disputed — and with 1990s Japanese output claims it usually is — the issue says so.

The apparel side exists because the archive should be wearable. Each drop is cut to an issue, made in small numbers, and retired when the issue moves off the stand.
